What is an enchantment calculator?
In Minecraft, combining gear with enchanted books on an anvil is the only way to get god-tier gear - but every anvil use increases the item's prior work penalty, making the next merge more expensive. Combine in the wrong order and the final step says Too Expensive! An enchantment calculator works out the optimal combining order so the total XP cost is as low as possible.
How the anvil order solver works
The solver tries every possible combining sequence in the background and picks the one with the lowest total level cost - factoring in enchantment weights, anvil mechanics, prior work penalties, incompatible enchantments and the 39-level cap. You get an exact step-by-step recipe: which books to merge first, and what each step costs in levels and XP points.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this Minecraft enchantment calculator do?
It finds the cheapest order to combine enchanted books with your gear on an anvil, so you spend the fewest XP levels possible and avoid hitting the 'Too Expensive' limit.
Why does the order of enchantments matter?
Every anvil use adds a 'prior work penalty' to the item. Combining books in the wrong order multiplies that penalty and can make the final step cost more than 39 levels - at which point the anvil refuses to work. The right order can save dozens of levels.
Do I need max-level books?
This calculator assumes each book is at its maximum level with zero prior work (fresh from a librarian villager or loot). If you combine lower-level books yourself first, the real cost will be higher than shown.
Does it work for every item and every enchantment?
It covers all Java Edition enchantments and items, including sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots, bow, crossbow, trident, fishing rod, mace and more. Incompatible enchantments (like Sharpness + Smite) are blocked unless you allow them.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The solver runs entirely in your browser - nothing you select ever leaves your device.
